18-5-2024 (CALIFORNIA) Shocking security footage aired by CNN appears to capture a violent altercation between hip-hop magnate Sean “Diddy” Combs and his former girlfriend, singer Cassie, in a Los Angeles hotel corridor back in 2016.
The grainy video, which surfaced on Friday (May 17), depicts a towel-clad Combs seemingly punching and kicking the R&B artist, who was once his protégé and long-term partner. The footage also seemingly shows the music mogul shoving, dragging, and hurling a vase in Cassie’s direction.
The footage, dated March 5, 2016, bears a striking resemblance to an incident described in a November 2022 lawsuit filed by Cassie, whose legal name is Cassandra Ventura. In the court filing, Ventura alleged years of sexual abuse and other violent behaviour from Combs during their relationship. The lawsuit was swiftly settled the day after it was filed, but it triggered intense scrutiny of Combs, with several more lawsuits emerging in the ensuing months, along with a federal criminal sex-trafficking investigation that led to authorities raiding Combs’ residences in Los Angeles and Miami.

Combs’ representatives have not yet provided a comment on the disturbing video. However, the music mogul has previously denied the allegations outlined in the lawsuits, with his legal team asserting that he denies any wrongdoing.
CNN did not disclose how they obtained the footage but confirmed that they verified the location by cross-referencing publicly available images of the now-closed InterContinental Hotel where the incident allegedly took place.
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behaviour of Mr Combs,” said Douglas Wigdor, an attorney representing Cassie, who has filed other lawsuits against Combs. “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
