16-5-2024 (SINGAPORE) A dramatic pursuit unfolded on the morning of May 15 when a 22-year-old man attempted to evade a Traffic Police officer conducting a routine patrol along Aljunied Road. The chase concluded with the man’s arrest, revealing a cache of suspicious items in his vehicle.
The incident began at approximately 11:25 am when the officer signalled for the driver to stop for a routine check. According to police reports, the driver initially indicated compliance by pointing to a nearby bus stop where he purportedly intended to pull over. However, instead of stopping, the man accelerated away, prompting a high-speed chase.
The suspect abandoned his vehicle at a road junction and fled on foot. A brief but intense chase ensued, during which the officer pursued the man on his motorcycle before dismounting to continue the pursuit on foot. This dramatic sequence was captured on video and later shared on Facebook, showing the man, dressed in black and wearing a cap, attempting to evade capture.

In the footage, the suspect is seen running back towards his car, a Mitsubishi, which had come to a halt between the second and third lanes at a red light. The officer swiftly caught up with him just as he tried to re-enter the vehicle. At this point, two passengers exited the car, witnessing the arrest unfold.
Upon apprehension, a search of the vehicle uncovered a black samurai sword, substances believed to be controlled drugs, and various drug paraphernalia. The man was arrested on multiple charges, including possession of an offensive weapon, cheating by personation, several traffic offences, and suspected drug-related crimes.
The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, as they continue to piece together the full extent of the man’s activities and the origins of the items found in his possession.
