9-5-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Hong Kong singing sensations Joey Yung, Charlene Choi, and Gillian Chung embarked on a journey to Singapore and Penang in March to film the second season of the hit variety show “Girls’ Spectacular Journey.”
The travelogue documents the trio’s escapades as they traverse various cities, immersing themselves in local culture and cuisine.
In the third episode aired on May 7, the trio ventured to a durian cafe nestled near Singapore’s vibrant Chinatown, where they delved into the intricacies of opening durians and indulged in an array of durian varieties.
While Yung, 43, found the renowned King of Fruits to be a delightful treat, Choi, 41, had an entirely different experience.
Despite her self-professed title as the “foodie of the group,” the Cantopop sensation struggled to conceal her revulsion upon tasting the Musang King, promptly spitting it out in disgust.
With a perplexed expression, she queried, “Where’s the delicious part?”
Prompted by the production team, the trio faced a dilemma: either consume the durians or purchase a pass card to fulfill the mission. However, Yung, renowned for her fervent love of durians, dismissed the notion of spending money, opting instead to relish the fruit.
In addition to her aversion to durians, Choi expressed disdain for watermelons.
“I dislike the taste. Merely the scent induces nausea. I had it once as a child, and the ensuing sickness deterred me from ever consuming it again,” she disclosed.
Given the choice between watermelon and durian, Choi unequivocally favored the latter.
