7-5-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Ouyang Yujing, the Chinese ambassador to Malaysia, has confirmed the extension of visa-free travel to China for Malaysian citizens until the end of 2025. The announcement was made during the Malaysia-China Commemorative Forum on Tuesday (May 7), marking a significant development in bilateral relations.
During his speech, Ambassador Ouyang highlighted Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent declaration in France regarding the extension of visa-free policies for citizens from 12 countries, including Malaysia. This extension is expected to facilitate greater exchange and cooperation between the two nations.
President Xi formally announced the decision to prolong visa exemption entry for short-term visits to China during the Sixth Meeting of China-France Business Council on Monday (May 6). The 15-day visa-free policy allows Malaysian citizens holding ordinary passports to travel to China for various purposes, including business, tourism, family visits, and transit.
This extension builds upon China’s initial announcement on November 24 last year, which granted visa-free travel privileges to six European countries and Malaysia until November 30, 2024.
