4-5-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Malaysia’s Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain announced the arrest of two additional police officers in connection with a RM1.25 million (S$356,000) extortion case.
According to Harian Metro, Razarudin disclosed that the latest arrests, alongside three previous ones, involved an inspector and a sergeant.
Additionally, police secured a remand order for the three other officers until Tuesday. This trio, consisting of an assistant commissioner, a deputy superintendent, and an inspector, aged between 38 and 50, were apprehended near Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur the day before.
Razarudin revealed that all implicated officers were assigned to a division within Bukit Aman’s commercial crime investigation department.
The investigation, spearheaded by the elite crime investigation unit as part of Bukit Aman CID’s law and prosecution division (D5), is centred on allegations of extortion under Section 384 of the Penal Code.
