30-4-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Malaysian police uncovered a drug syndicate masterminded by a 24-year-old man who not only oversaw operations but also served as the chemist. Shockingly, he involved his wife and multiple lovers in the illicit trade.
The crackdown, led by the Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID), targeted a processing lab hidden within a posh residence in Semenyih, Selangor. The operation resulted in the seizure of over 300kg of drugs.
According to NCID director Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin, initial investigations unveiled the extent of the suspect’s control over the syndicate, encompassing drug processing and distribution. “His wife and lovers played key roles, renting properties and managing finances,” he disclosed at a press briefing in Kajang.
The police arrested eight men and five women, aged 21 to 51, in three raids across Kajang and Kuala Lumpur last Friday. “A vehicle inspection on the Cheras-Kajang Expressway led to the discovery of 2.4kg of heroin,” Comm Khaw revealed.
Subsequent raids at a Semenyih house and a KL Sentral condominium uncovered a stash of heroin, chemicals, and liquid drugs, along with processing equipment. The total haul included 26.25kg of syabu, 55.33kg of heroin, and 4.208kg of ganja, valued at RM1.48 million.
Comm Khaw stated that the syndicate’s reach could have supplied drugs to an estimated 465,386 users. “Five suspects have prior criminal records, and two tested positive for THC,” he added, noting that all are remanded until May 3.
Assets worth RM1.08 million, including 13 vehicles and RM213,000 in cash and jewellery, were seized. Investigations revealed that the syndicate rented vehicles and properties, paying RM2,000 monthly for the Semenyih house and RM3,200 for the condominium unit.
Police suspect the syndicate operated on a distribution model, fulfilling orders from smaller dealers and using couriers to transport drugs.
