27-4-2024 (PHNOM PENH) Witnesses reported that a group of individuals claiming to be plainclothes policemen fired several shots yesterday at Phnom Penh rail station.
The incident unfolded at 1:30 pm on April 26, 2024, at the café within the Boeung Kak train station, situated in Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
According to a security guard present at the scene, two men were enjoying coffee when a group of 6 to 7 armed individuals arrived. The armed group swiftly encircled the two men, discharged a firearm, and forcibly detained them in a pickup truck.
As the security guard attempted to document the incident by taking a photograph and alerting his superior, the armed individuals instructed him to delete the image.
The men claimed that it was part of an ‘anti-drugs operation.’
However, authorities, who were called to investigate the matter, stated that they were initially unable to ascertain the identities of the armed individuals.
During the investigation, authorities recovered a spent ammunition casing from the scene and are continuing their efforts to gather information on the incident.
