26-4-2024 (SINGAPORE) In a recent crackdown conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) from April 21 to April 26 across various areas including Aljunied, Beach Road, Bukit Batok, Bukit Merah, and Corporation Drive, a total of 67 suspected drug offenders were apprehended, including a 16-year-old individual, making her the youngest among those detained.
The Singaporean teenager is under investigation for suspected drug abuse, while inquiries into the involvement of the other suspects are ongoing.
During the operations, authorities seized a significant quantity of illicit substances, including approximately 572 grams of cannabis, 222 grams of heroin, 55 grams of Ice, 0.5 grams of ketamine, 19 Erimin-5 tablets, five ecstasy tablets, three bottles of liquid suspected to contain GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate), and a bottle of methadone. The combined street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at around S$62,000 (US$45,600).
One notable raid occurred near Bukit Batok West Avenue 4 on April 21, resulting in the arrest of a 50-year-old male suspect for suspected drug trafficking. Authorities discovered approximately 133 grams of cannabis, along with 10 Erimin-5 tablets, three ecstasy tablets, a small quantity of Ice, assorted drug paraphernalia, and S$9,081 in cash during the search of the premises. Subsequently, the suspect’s rental car nearby was also inspected, revealing about 33 grams of heroin and two ecstasy tablets.

In a separate operation on April 23, a 46-year-old Singaporean man was apprehended at a residence near Corporation Drive on suspicion of drug trafficking. A search of the premises led to the discovery of approximately 314 grams of cannabis, including a whole cannabis leaf, a small quantity of Ice, and various drug-related paraphernalia.
Deputy Director of Policy and Administration of CNB, Sng Chern Hong, emphasised the legal ramifications of possessing any part of the cannabis plant, clarifying that under the Misuse of Drugs Act, possession of any component of the cannabis genus is considered an offense. He urged the public to refrain from purchasing or keeping any such parts, reminding them of the potential consequences, including a maximum jail term of 10 years, a fine of up to S$20,000, or both, for those found guilty of possessing cannabis in quantities less than 330 grams.
