24-4-2024 (HANOI) Standard Chartered has revised down its projection for Vietnam’s economic growth in 2024 to 6.0 per cent from the earlier forecast of 6.7 per cent, the bank announced on Wednesday, attributing the adjustment to subdued growth in the first quarter and prevailing global trade uncertainties.
In a statement, the bank highlighted challenges confronting trade, a pivotal driver of growth and investment in Vietnam, both in the short and long term.
Furthermore, Standard Chartered slashed its inflation forecast for the year to 4.3 per cent from the previous estimate of 5.5 per cent, prompted by lower-than-anticipated inflation figures recorded in the first quarter.
