22-4-2024 (PHNOM PENH) Dr. Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, expressed a warm welcome to the inaugural landing of the first AirAsia Cambodia aircraft at Phnom Penh International Airport.
“Welcome to the first AirAsia Cambodia aircraft that arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport on April 20, 2024,” announced the Prime Minister on his social media platforms. “Adorned with a stunning design featuring the iconic Angkor Wat Temple and the word ‘Cambodia’, the aircraft is poised for demonstration and test flights on April 30 to obtain its official flight operator certificate.”
Dr. Hun Manet disclosed that official domestic flights are scheduled to commence on May 2, 2024.
“As planned,” he continued, “AirAsia Cambodia will operate four daily flights for both the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap and Preah Sihanouk-Siem Reap routes.”
According to information shared on Fly AirAsia’s Facebook page, the aircraft, named “Red Naga,” showcases a design inspired by the Sacred Naga, a mythical creature symbolizing strength, protection, and abundance. The vibrant hues of red, blue, and white adorning the aircraft pay homage to the splendid Angkor Wat Temple, a source of pride that has inspired the Cambodian flag.
