18-4-2024 (MANILA) President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has been named one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People of 2024,” the publication revealed on Tuesday.
Time Magazine commended Marcos for his firm stance “against Chinese aggression” in the West Philippine Sea and for strengthening the country’s alliance with the US. The magazine acknowledged ongoing issues such as extrajudicial killings and attacks on journalists while recognizing Marcos’ efforts to rehabilitate his family’s reputation, acknowledging the potential impact on the nation.
The inclusion of Marcos in the list followed extensive deliberations by Time Magazine over several months to identify individuals who significantly influenced the events of the past year.
“We selected the 100 who we believe most changed the stories that define the past year,” Time Magazine stated.
The magazine classified the 100 individuals into categories such as artists, icons, titans, leaders, innovators, and pioneers.
