10-4-2024 (MANILA) Authorities in Davao City are still grappling with the whereabouts of Apollo Quiboloy, the fugitive leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ religious group, seven days after receiving a warrant for his arrest on child and sexual abuse charges.
Quiboloy, who has set conditions for his surrender, remains elusive, with no sightings or arrests made thus far.
On Monday, the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms convened with local security officials to discuss the implementation of a separate arrest order against Quiboloy from the Senate.
“As soon as we find out Quiboloy’s whereabouts, we will serve the warrant,” Police Maj. Catherine Dela Rey, spokesperson for Police Regional Office 11 (Davao Region), told ABS-CBN News on Tuesday.
Lawyer Archie Albao, regional director of the National Bureau of Investigation Southeastern Mindanao, revealed that the OSSA handed over the transmittal paper and the arrest order to PRO 11.
“We held a meeting. They just listened to all inputs from all law enforcers, particularly PRO 11 and the NBI 11,” he said.
“After that, they decided not to serve the warrant because there were no sightings and no information. There was no point in serving it,” he added.
Albao stated that tracker and intelligence teams are monitoring locations where Quiboloy might be hiding.
The warrant of arrest from Davao Regional Trial Court Branch 12 will be returned after 10 days, on April 12.
Albao said authorities will request an alias warrant, which would authorize Quiboloy’s arrest even after the original warrant is returned to the court that issued it.
The search for the elusive religious leader has garnered significant attention, as Quiboloy faces serious allegations of child and sexual abuse. The Kingdom of Jesus Christ religious group, which he leads, has been under scrutiny for its controversial practices and allegations of misconduct.
Authorities remain determined to apprehend Quiboloy and bring him to justice, but the lack of information on his whereabouts has hampered their efforts thus far. The request for an alias warrant is a strategic move to ensure that the search can continue even after the initial warrant expires.
