4-4-2024 (BANGKOK) Laos and Thailand have inaugurated a cross-border QR payment linkage to streamline economic activities between the two nations and enhance trade, investment, and tourism prospects.
The launch event took place in the northern province of Luang Prabang in Laos on Wednesday, as reported by Laos’ central bank, the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL).
Addressing attendees at the ceremony, BOL Governor Bounleua Sinxayvoravong underscored the significance of collaboration between Laos and Thailand in the financial services sector, portraying it as a testament to their shared vision for regional integration, economic development, and prosperity.
“We reaffirm our commitment to bolstering ties and fostering mutual growth alongside regional progress,” stated Bounleua.
The implementation of the cross-border QR payment system marks a significant stride in financial technology, promising increased convenience, efficiency, and security in cross-border transactions.
