2-4-2024 (BANGKOK) In a horrific incident, two suspects brutally severed the arm of a Thai man after he warned them against smoking cigarettes outside his liquor store in the Sriracha district of Chon Buri. The attack took place last night and was reported to the Sriracha Police Station on April 1.
The victim, identified as 39-year-old Panitarn, was sitting in front of his store with his girlfriend, Daraporn, when two attackers arrived on a motorcycle. Without warning, one of the assailants abruptly severed Panitarn’s left arm.
Daraporn, who witnessed the attack, quickly fled the scene with Panitarn, clutching his severed arm as they sought safety. The attackers pursued them, forcing the couple to seek help from locals along their escape route. Eventually, a resident intervened, causing the assailants to retreat. Despite the police’s efforts to capture the suspects, they managed to escape.
According to Daraporn, the attack may have been in retaliation for Panitarn’s earlier admonishment to the assailants about smoking near the store. She explained that the two attackers had stopped outside the shop to observe the aftermath of a nearby motorcycle accident. While there, they were smoking, which prompted Panitarn to approach them and ask them to stop.
The attackers left their motorcycle, a grey Honda Sonic without a registration plate, at the scene of the stabbing and fled on foot, as reported by Channel 7.
Police are currently reviewing security camera footage in the vicinity to identify the suspects and bring them to justice. There is no update on Panitarn’s condition at this time.
