31-3-2024 (JAKARTA) A powerful explosion shook a military complex located near the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta on Saturday evening, according to an officer who spoke to local media. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. local time (11:30 GMT) in a military ammunition warehouse situated in Ciangsana village, located in the Bogor regency of West Java province. The village is roughly seven kilometers away from Jakarta’s eastern border.
Kristomei Sianturi, spokesperson for the Indonesian Army, confirmed the blast and informed that fire brigades have been dispatched to the scene. However, due to safety concerns, they have not yet been able to approach the site of the explosion.
Sianturi further stated that residents residing in the vicinity of the warehouse have been evacuated to safer areas as a precautionary measure.
