29-3-2024 (SINGAPORE) In the early hours of March 28, a devastating fire erupted at a recycling and waste management facility located in Kranji, Singapore.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) swiftly responded to the emergency at 11 Kranji Crescent around 2:25 am. Fortunately, prior to their arrival, 25 individuals had already evacuated the premises, with no reported injuries.
Upon reaching the scene, SCDF personnel encountered flames engulfing waste materials within the sorting and processing area, spanning an area of 400 square metres. The facility, identified through a Google search as belonging to Wah and Hua Private Limited, faced significant damage.
Eyewitness footage captured by a concerned reader of Mothership showcased the magnitude of the blaze, with flames towering and smoke billowing into the night sky.
Efforts to contain and extinguish the fire were arduous, with SCDF deploying 10 emergency vehicles and approximately 50 personnel to tackle the inferno. Utilizing four water jets, two foam jets, and an unmanned firefighting machine, responders worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control.
After a strenuous three-hour battle, SCDF successfully extinguished the flames. However, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
