22-3-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Four years ago, university student Veveonah Mosibin captured attention with her “treetop Internet” YouTube video, shedding light on the connectivity challenges faced by many Sabahans. Now, the 22-year-old marine science student finds herself in the spotlight once again, but this time for a much happier reason – her venture into the world of cinema.
Veveonah is set to feature in several locally produced movies slated to hit cinemas either by the end of 2024 or early 2025. Speaking about her upcoming projects, she shared details about her role in the film titled “Terjebak,” an action-packed movie filled with thrilling fight scenes and a humanitarian message.
“This movie aims to inspire the younger generation to steer clear of crime,” Veveonah said, emphasizing the importance of bringing redemption and familial love into the storyline. She plays the supporting role of Lulu, a fighter and bodyguard, in the film, which features local talent from Sabah speaking Sabahan Malay and was filmed in Keningau and Tambunan.
Veveonah’s journey into acting began when she was approached by Trespar Pita, an actor with ONTV Production. Initially involved in a special shoot commemorating Malaysia Day in July 2023, she later delved into acting, starring in the horror film “Swang” and subsequently securing the role of Lulu in “Terjebak.”
While juggling her shooting schedule, Veveonah continues her studies, currently interning at Universiti Malaysia Sabah until July. Despite her busy schedule, she remains focused on completing her degree in marine science, expected to graduate in December.
Although Veveonah gained fame as the “treetop girl,” she has embraced her new role in the film industry, leaving her treetop video days behind. With her foray into acting, she hopes to continue inspiring others while pursuing her passion for storytelling on the big screen.
