22-3-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A luxury condominium was among the locations raided in a police operation that resulted in the seizure of drugs worth more than RM14.5 million, according to Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin.
Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin stated that the luxury condominium was utilized for storing the drugs before distribution.
“At the press conference held at the police headquarters here yesterday, we seized 332.443kg of syabu, 6.07kg of MDMA powder, 8.1kg of Erimin 5 pills, and 15.7kg of Ecstasy pills, with a total value of about RM14.5 million,” he said.
He further mentioned that the seized drugs could have supplied 1.8 million users.
In the operation conducted on Tuesday, two men, aged 33 and 44, were detained.
“The detained individuals were the transporter and storekeeper. They were paid between RM2,000 and RM3,000 for each job. One of the suspects has a criminal record,” he stated.
Comm Khaw also informed that a vehicle used by the suspects was seized during the operation.
The suspects have been remanded until March 25, he added.
“We believe that the mastermind and other major players in the syndicate are still at large. We will hunt them down,” Comm Khaw affirmed.
Initial investigations revealed that the syndicate caters to both local and overseas markets, Comm Khaw mentioned.
“We believe they send the drugs to neighboring countries via courier. They have been operating since the middle of last year,” he said.
Comm Khaw stated that the department will continue to conduct more operations targeting drug syndicates.
