20-3-2024 (MANILA) The hashtag #JusticeForKillua took over social media platforms on Tuesday as Filipinos, including celebrities, expressed outrage over the brutal killing of a golden retriever found inside a sack by its owner in Bato, Camarines Sur.
Vina Rachelle, Killua’s owner, revealed that the dog was allegedly murdered by an individual who claimed that the golden retriever was aggressive.
“I love him very much. We found his lifeless body inside a sack,” Vina Rachelle shared on her Facebook account.
According to her, Killua accidentally crossed their house’s gate and was later discovered dead.
“Just to clarify, he didn’t get out because the gate was open. The gate was locked. He climbed over it and perhaps fell. We’re not exactly sure what happened. He was probably anxious and stressed. He’s not accustomed to being outside because he’s always indoors. So, no, we didn’t open the door for him to escape,” she explained.
Vina Rachelle further stated that even if Killua had bitten his alleged attacker, it was “not a sufficient reason to kill my baby.”
CCTV footage depicted Killua apparently attempting to flee from his assailant.
Celebrities like Sarah Geronimo joined the call for justice for the beloved pet.
“This news is extremely heartbreaking. The dog had no means to defend itself. Like us humans, they also feel fear and pain. Every life deserves respect and protection. It’s time to demand accountability and speak out against animal cruelty,” Geronimo remarked.
