20-3-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A tragic incident unfolded at a factory workers’ hostel in Section 36, Shah Alam, resulting in the death of a foreign worker who had mistakenly consumed orange juice intended for his co-worker to break fast. The Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, confirmed the incident, which occurred at approximately 7:20 PM on Tuesday, March 19.
According to the authorities, a 49-year-old Bangladeshi man lost his life in the unfortunate altercation. Investigations revealed that the victim had been residing in a makeshift workers’ hostel, sharing a converted shipping container with a 51-year-old Pakistani man. It was discovered that the victim had unknowingly consumed the orange juice that was meant for the Pakistani co-worker’s break fast.
The Pakistani co-worker became enraged upon discovering that his beverage had been consumed by the victim. In a fit of anger, he resorted to multiple stab wounds inflicted with a kitchen knife. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The suspect was swiftly apprehended by the authorities and a knife believed to have been used in the crime was recovered.
Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim stated that the suspect would be remanded to facilitate further investigations into the tragic incident.
