19-3-2024 (JAKARTA) The General Election Commission (KPU) of Indonesia has announced the official results of the vote counts for the 2024 election in 33 out of the total 38 provinces. KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari stated late on Sunday that the remaining provinces yet to disclose their results are West Java, Papua, Mountain Papua, Southwest Papua, Maluku, and Papua.
Additionally, the outcomes of the re-voting, which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital city on March 9-10, were disclosed on Monday (March 18).
Indonesia conducted its 2024 elections on February 14, which included the selection of national and regional legislative candidates, as well as the president and vice president.
The three pairs of candidates for president and vice president are Anies Baswedan, a former governor of Jakarta, running alongside Muhaimin Iskandar, a former minister of manpower and transportation. The other candidate pairs consist of Prabowo Subianto, the current Minister of Defence, along with Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the mayor of Solo and President Joko Widodo’s eldest son. The third pair is formed by Ganjar Pranowo, the former governor of Central Java, and Mahfud MD, the former coordinating minister for political and security affairs.
Based on provisional recapitulation results, the Prabowo-Gibran pair is currently leading with 76,888,902 votes, followed by the Anies-Muhaimin pair with 31,118,204 votes, and Ganjar-Mahfud trailing behind with 23,461,344 votes. The Prabowo-Gibran pair also emerged as the winners of the polls conducted in Kuala Lumpur.
Idham Holik, a member of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) RI, revealed that in Kuala Lumpur, the Anies-Muhaimin pair received a total of 4,674 votes, the Prabowo-Gibran pair secured 6,266 votes, and the Ganjar-Mahfud pair obtained 1,134 votes.
