15-3-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Aliff Aziz, a Singaporean actor-singer, is facing divorce proceedings initiated by his wife, Malaysian actress Bella Astillah, following a scandal involving his close proximity to Malaysian actress Ruhainies. The divorce case was filed at the Federal Territories’ Syariah Court in Jalan Duta on Wednesday (March 13), after Bella Astillah submitted the divorce papers on Monday.
During her appearance at the court, Bella Astillah, whose real name is Dayang Nabellah Awang Astillah, expressed that divorce was the best course of action for her and Aliff. She mentioned that they had previously attempted to reconcile, but pursuing separate paths seemed to be the most suitable decision at this point. Bella Astillah also emphasized her desire for a smooth process, especially since it was the month of Ramadan.
Reports indicate that Aliff Aziz, 33, was absent from the court proceedings due to scheduling conflicts related to his ongoing shooting commitments. Bella’s lawyer, Azmi Mohd Rais, explained that they had opted for a fast-track divorce, considering Aliff’s previous agreement. However, on the day of the court appearance, Aliff informed them that he was not ready to proceed due to his ongoing filming obligations. As a result, Azmi requested the court to reschedule the discussions and summons delivery for the next court mention date.
The divorce proceedings were triggered by Aliff Aziz’s close proximity scandal with Malaysian actress Ruhainies, 31. On March 9, both Aliff and Ruhainies were detained by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) officers at a condominium in Kuala Lumpur. It was reported that the pair had failed to show up at the filming location for the drama series “Terjerat” in Selangor earlier that morning.
Taking to Instagram, Aliff Aziz addressed the situation in a post dated March 14, providing his official account of the events leading up to the officials’ arrival at the condominium. According to his statement, he had gone to the location to assist Ruhainies in carrying some items from their previous film shoot. While waiting in the living room for dinner with Ruhainies and her siblings, who had yet to arrive, the officials unexpectedly arrived. Aliff stated that nothing inappropriate occurred between him and Ruhainies and apologized for any oversight.

Ruhainies, who is single, shared a similar statement on her Instagram account, urging the public to refrain from speculating on the matter.
This khalwat (close proximity) case is not Aliff Aziz’s first encounter with legal issues. Previously, the actor-singer had been arrested in Geylang for “disorderly conduct.”
