27-2-2024 (SYDNEY) Australian police are actively investigating a reported assault involving a 71-year-old man, identified as Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift. The alleged incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at Neutral Bay Wharf in Sydney.
According to police spokeswoman Alicia McCumstie, a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old photographer, Ben McDonald, around 2:30 am local time. McDonald claims to have been taking photographs of Taylor Swift on a “super yacht” in Sydney Harbour following the conclusion of her concert series in the city.
McDonald alleges that after the pop icon left the venue, Swift’s security hindered his photography attempts. He states that an altercation with a man, later identified as Scott Swift, ensued, resulting in a physical assault.
“I didn’t know who he was, but I looked at photos and saw him holding hands with Taylor, and it was her dad,” McDonald explained.
The incident, described as a shock by McDonald, marks a rare occurrence in his 26-year career as a photographer.
Australian authorities are conducting inquiries into the matter, and Taylor Swift is not implicated in the alleged assault. The police generally refrain from publicly identifying individuals involved in such cases.
Taylor Swift is currently on her global Eras Tour, with her next stop scheduled in Singapore later this week. The tour is anticipated to become the highest-grossing musical tour of all time, surpassing $1 billion, according to Pollstar.
