21-2-2024 (JAKARTA) Perry Warjiyo, the governor of Indonesia’s central bank, indicated that Indonesia is likely to uphold prudent fiscal policy management, given the legal framework that mandates the annual budget deficit to remain below 3 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Warjiyo made these remarks during an investor conference call on Wednesday, addressing inquiries about the fiscal strategies of the incoming government.
The discussion arose concerning the potential fiscal risks under the forthcoming administration of president-elect Prabowo Subianto, slated to assume office in October. Warjiyo underscored the commitment to fiscal discipline and noted that the central bank will closely monitor discussions regarding the fiscal plans for 2025, involving both the government and parliament.
