10-2-2024 (SINGAPORE) Aviation enthusiasts are in for a treat as the Singapore Airshow 2024 gears up to showcase a thrilling array of aerial displays, featuring military aircraft from six air forces, including five foreign ones. The prestigious event is scheduled to take place from February 20 to 25 at the Changi Exhibition Centre.
Highlighting the lineup are two commercial participants set to dazzle spectators with their aerial prowess. Chinese aircraft manufacturer Comac will unveil its C919 aircraft for the first time, while Airbus will showcase its A350-1000.
This year’s edition marks a milestone with the largest number of foreign flying teams ever featured at a Singapore Airshow, as announced by organizer Experia on February 9. The inaugural Singapore Airshow took place in 2008.
Exciting additions to the aerial performances include the Indian Air Force’s Sarang aerial display team, known for their breathtaking acrobatics with modified helicopters, making their debut appearance. Joining them are the Royal Australian Air Force’s Roulettes, the Indonesian Air Force’s Jupiter, the Republic of Korea Air Force’s Black Eagles, and the United States Air Force’s iconic B-52 Stratofortress, scheduled for a flypast on February 22.
The Republic of Singapore Air Force will also make a notable presence with an F-15SG fighter jet and the AH-64D Apache attack helicopter participating in the aerial displays.
Mr. Leck Chet Lam, managing director of Experia, expressed anticipation for the flying performances, stating, “Flying performances are always a key highlight at the Singapore Airshow. As the public were either given limited or no access in the previous two editions due to safety measures during the pandemic, we anticipate strong interest in the upcoming flying performances.”
The first four days of the airshow cater exclusively to trade visitors, followed by two days open to the public. Flying displays are scheduled once daily from February 20 to 22, commencing at 12:30 pm on the first day and 11:30 am on the subsequent two days.
During Weekend@Airshow on February 24 and 25, open to the public, flying displays will be showcased twice daily at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm. Attendees are advised to monitor the Singapore Airshow website for any schedule changes.
Ticket prices are set at $34 for adults and $17 for children aged between 3 and 12. A group package priced at $240 includes four tickets and a carpark label. Organizers expect over 60,000 public visitors during the weekend.
The Singapore Airshow will host high-level government and military delegations, along with top executives from aerospace and defence firms worldwide. Key participants include commercial giants like Boeing and Embraer, alongside defence firms such as Bird Aerosystems and Israel Aerospace Industries.
