8-2-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) The decomposing body of a 32-year-old woman, missing for ten days, was discovered inside her car parked at a rest stop in Selangor, Malaysia. Investigators suspect she committed suicide by burning charcoal in the vehicle.
Jessie Chok, 32, mysteriously disappeared after leaving her home one evening on January 29. Concerned about her whereabouts, family and friends took to social media to seek information about her disappearance. According to Sin Chew Daily News, Chok was last seen wearing a red top and shorts around 6:51 pm on January 29. She worked at a funeral parlour and lived alone.
Initially, Chok’s family planned a press conference with a member of parliament to seek assistance on February 8. However, shortly before the scheduled conference, they received information from the public about the location of Chok’s vehicle, a dark grey Subaru XV.
Chok’s car was later found at a rest stop in Kundang, Selangor. After breaking into the locked vehicle, authorities discovered Chok’s decaying body inside. Her body appeared charred and dry, likely due to exposure to the sun for several days.
A cleaner in the area recalled detecting a foul odour a few days earlier but dismissed it as a decaying cat carcass. Chok’s corpse was retrieved from the car and sent for autopsy.
CCTV footage showed Chok driving into the rest stop around 7:30 pm on January 29, the day she went missing. The car remained stationary at the spot afterward.
Investigators found a charcoal stove in Chok’s car, with signs of charcoal burning in the front passenger seat. While reports suggested Chok had committed suicide in her vehicle, police refrained from confirming this, stating that investigations are ongoing.
