29-1-2024 (BANGKOK) As of 7:00 AM on January 29, the average PM 2.5 concentration in Bangkok stood at 48.6 µg/m3, categorizing the air quality in the orange level, which is deemed unhealthy for sensitive groups, according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Air Quality Management Centre.
Individuals, particularly the elderly, young children, and those with respiratory issues, are advised to limit outdoor activities in Bangkok and surrounding areas. The centre recommends wearing masks when venturing outside, particularly when air quality levels reach orange or red categories.
Weather conditions between January 29-30 are anticipated to feature weak air dispersion and close-to-surface inversions, hindering dust particle dispersion and leading to accumulation. However, today’s forecast indicates clouds with light rain in certain areas.
From January 31 to February 3, air dispersion is expected to improve, with alternating surface inversion conditions facilitating better dispersion of particulate matter.
NASA’s satellite data analysis identified abnormal high-temperature hotspots in the Bangkok metropolitan area at 2 AM today, notably one hotspot in the On Nut sub-district, Suan Luang district.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Air Quality Management Centre remains vigilant, continuously monitoring air quality and issuing updates accordingly.
