23-1-2024 (BANGKOK) In a recent incident, an Israeli man has been taken into custody in connection with an attempted robbery at a currency exchange in the vibrant city of Phuket.
The 26-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended on Monday at an undisclosed location on the resort island, as confirmed by Pol Col Chalermchai Hernsawad, the Patong police chief.
According to the police report, the suspect allegedly attempted to rob and assault a woman at a currency exchange establishment in the Patong area on December 31. The assailant fled the scene when the targeted woman raised an alarm, seeking help from the public.
Law enforcement authorities scrutinized security camera footage to trace the suspect’s escape route and pinpoint his whereabouts. The thorough investigation eventually led to the arrest of the individual earlier this week.
The charges brought against the suspect include attempted robbery, assault, and overstaying his visa in the country.
Pol Col Chalermchai stated that the suspect has refuted the allegation of attempted robbery. The legal proceedings will continue as the investigation unfolds in the picturesque city of Phuket.
