23-1-2024 (SINGAPORE) Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is set to embark on a four-day working visit to New York City, scheduled from January 24 to January 27, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on January 23.
Accompanying the Prime Minister on this visit will be his wife, Mrs. Lee, along with officials from both the PMO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During PM Lee’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will take on the role of acting prime minister.
The upcoming visit follows PM Lee’s last working visit to the United States in November 2023, during which he participated in the 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders’ Meeting in San Francisco, at the invitation of US President Joe Biden.
During his previous visit, PM Lee engaged with California Governor Gavin Newsom and held discussions with business leaders from prominent US companies. Among these discussions were meetings with Google and Alphabet Chief Executive Sundar Pichai and Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook.
