15-1-2024 (SINGAPORE) A 67-year-old man was rushed to the hospital with stab wounds after he was discovered unconscious on the first floor of Sun Plaza on January 15. The incident, which occurred at 30 Sembawang Drive, prompted a call for assistance to the police at approximately 2:05 pm.
According to the authorities, officers arrived at the scene and found the man lying unconscious with injuries believed to be self-inflicted. The Singapore Civil Defence Force promptly transported him to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Photographs of the incident began circulating on social media around 3 pm, depicting the topless man lying on the floor, surrounded by police officers and onlookers.
Upon The Straits Times’ arrival at the scene at approximately 3:30 pm, a police cordon had been established in the area between McDonald’s and the fast casual food kiosk Stuff’d.
Mr. Hafizul Razali, a 28-year-old manager, informed The Straits Times that the man did not utter any words before inflicting harm upon himself. The McDonald’s employee also mentioned that he attempted to seek assistance from the mall’s security, but by the time he returned, the police had already arrived.
The police are currently conducting investigations into the incident, as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the self-inflicted injuries.
