12-1-2024 (BANGKOK) Pimprapa Tangprabhaporn, a well-known Thai actress who has graced the screens in dramas such as “The Gang Boss Loved Me” and “One Night,” recently took to social media to express her frustration over a distressing incident she encountered at the Moscow Airport in Russia. PIM arrived at the airport only to find that her luggage had gone missing, and when she finally located it, all her valuable belongings had been stolen.
In a video posted on Instagram, PIM recounted the events of that day. She revealed that while her father and sister successfully retrieved their luggage, she noticed that her own suitcase was nowhere to be found on the luggage carousel. After a considerable search, she eventually located her suitcase at the airport’s lost and found office. However, the luggage tag and strip had mysteriously disappeared, making it difficult for the airport staff to identify the owner. It took PIM some time and effort to prove that the suitcase belonged to her before she was able to reclaim it.
To her dismay, upon opening the suitcase, she discovered that not only had the lock been pried open, but all her branded Chanel bags, jewelry, and glasses, with a total value exceeding US$7,200 (approximately S$9,565), had been stolen. Distressed, she sought assistance from the airline, but received an unhelpful response, with the staff simply telling her to “call the police” before walking away.
The police attempted to investigate the incident by examining surveillance footage from the baggage claim area. However, PIM expressed her frustration, stating that this effort proved futile. Eventually, the authorities concluded that the theft likely occurred at the previous stop, Murmansk, and most likely within the airport premises. They advised PIM to return to the previous station to file a report, but she lamented that their attitude was poor and they offered little assistance.
Due to her impending return to Thailand the following day, PIM sadly shared, “The police informed me that such cases occur frequently, but they are unable to take effective action. In the end, I had to leave without any resolution. My belongings were never recovered, and the stolen bag held sentimental value as it was a birthday gift from my boyfriend. Its loss has deeply saddened me.”
Drawing from her personal experience, PIM issued a warning to others, stating, “I will never travel to Russia again. Exercise extreme caution when visiting this country, especially with checked luggage. It poses significant risks. If you wish to safeguard your valuables from theft, the only solution is to carry them with you and remain vigilant against the ever-present threat of thieves.”
