12-1-2024 (SUDNEY) An Australian woman, recently stumbled upon a peculiar and mysterious creature on a rocky beach along the southern east coast of Australia. The creature, with a blood-red spherical head and an elongated wrinkled tail, has sparked intense discussions after she shared the photo online.
Emily posted the photo on the “Victoria Wild Naturalists Club” Facebook group on the 3rd, inviting speculation about the origin and nature of the unusual being. In the image, the creature’s head appears to be a spherical body with brain-like wrinkles and covered in bumps, while the other end is attached to a long, wrinkled stem.
Discovered on a rocky beach in the town of Fairhaven in Surf Coast County, Victoria, the creature felt hard and somewhat plant-like, according to Emily. Describing it as “really strange” and reminiscent of “creatures from another planet,” she sought assistance from online communities to identify the mysterious find.
The photo quickly ignited lively discussions among online users, with many expressing agreement that the creature resembled something out of science fiction, possibly an extraterrestrial being. However, one observant netizen suggested that, based on the photo, the creature is likely a “Sea Tulip” Ascidian.
Contrary to its name, Sea Tulips, or Ascidiacea, are not plants but filter feeders resembling flower-like structures, known for their diverse array of colors. Though the name might lead to misconceptions about being marine plants, they are classified as sea squirts and play a role as filter-feeding marine invertebrates.
The mysterious discovery has not only intrigued locals but has also sparked curiosity online as the debate continues about the true identity of this intriguing sea creature found on the Australian beach.
