27-12-2023 (SAN FRANCISCO) Anthropic, the AI startup backed by Amazon.com and Alphabet’s Google, is on track to generate more than $850 million in annualized revenue by the end of 2024, according to sources familiar with the company’s financial outlook, as reported by The Information on Tuesday.
Just three months ago, Anthropic informed certain investors that it was already generating revenue at a rate of $100 million per year. The company anticipated that this figure would soar to $500 million by the close of 2024, signaling significant growth and market potential.
Anthropic, founded by former executives at Microsoft-supported competitor OpenAI, along with siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei, is part of a wave of companies developing generative AI systems capable of producing human-like responses and content. Their cutting-edge technology, including the renowned Claude AI models, has been in direct competition with OpenAI’s GPT series.
Insiders with knowledge of the matter believe that Anthropic has the potential to achieve $1 billion in annualized revenue in the upcoming year, equivalent to an impressive $83 million in monthly revenue, according to The Information.
Furthermore, the company is currently engaged in discussions to secure $750 million in a funding round led by Menlo Ventures, a reputable source revealed to Reuters last week. This substantial investment would provide Anthropic with the necessary capital to further expand its operations and solidify its position within the AI industry.
In recent months, both Google and Amazon have demonstrated their confidence in Anthropic’s capabilities by committing to invest up to $2 billion and $4 billion respectively.
