19-12-2023 (SINGAPORE) What was meant to be a tranquil family vacation in Hong Kong turned into a harrowing ordeal for a Singaporean family of three, as they found themselves embroiled in a violent altercation with locals, leading to their arrest and subsequent hospitalization, as reported by Hong Kong media.
The unsettling incident unfolded on December 10 at 10:25 pm in Woosung Street, located in the residential district of Jordan, according to accounts from HK01. Social media has been abuzz with videos capturing the distressing scenes, featuring a man in a light blue T-shirt being forcibly restrained on the ground by two others, with a woman anxiously looking on.
In the footage, another woman, clad in a white T-shirt, rushes towards the commotion, pleading, “What are you doing? Let go! Let my husband go.” Additional clips depict several individuals intervening to separate the combatants, while police officers equipped with batons and shields attempt to quell the altercation.
According to HK01’s report, the confrontation ignited when the Singaporean family, while at a food stall on Woosung Street, raised objections to a 50-year-old Hong Kong resident, donned in the contentious light blue T-shirt, allegedly smoking at a nearby table. As the family departed the stall, the Hong Kong resident purportedly approached from behind and assaulted the 54-year-old father by striking him on the head with a bottle before swiftly making his escape.

In pursuit of justice, the father, alongside his 52-year-old wife and 17-year-old son, gave chase and eventually apprehended the alleged assailant at the junction of Woosong and Pak Hoi streets, where the physical altercation ensued. Hong Kong police intervened, arresting the Singaporean family on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (AOABH). Subsequently, all four individuals were transported to Kwong Wah Hospital for medical attention.
