9-12-2023 (SINGAPORE) Singtel, one of Singapore’s major telecommunication providers, faced a significant network disruption suspected to have left many users stranded without internet access.
The glitch in Singtel’s network service came to light around 6:15 a.m. on Saturday (December 9), as users began reporting issues, as indicated by data from Downdetector, a network status monitoring station. Complaints surged, reaching their peak around 8 a.m., with over a thousand individuals expressing connectivity problems.
Users from various parts of the island flooded Singtel’s Facebook post, detailing issues ranging from a lack of mobile signal to an inability to access the internet and utilize network services. The situation created a wave of frustration among consumers who were left disconnected throughout the morning.
Singtel acknowledged the concerns on Facebook and responded to user messages at 8:50 a.m. The company suggested troubleshooting steps such as restarting phones or toggling airplane mode. However, despite users following these recommendations, reports persisted of continued internet unavailability.
