4-12-2023 (TAIPEI) It seems that being mistaken for a famous celebrity can happen to anyone, even veteran Taiwanese actress Yang Tsiu Hui. Recently, she shared an amusing incident that occurred at the airport, where she was mistakenly identified as another well-known actress. And who might that be? None other than Ipoh-born Michelle Yeoh. In a Facebook post, Yang revealed that she and her production team were approached by two American tourists in the airport’s waiting lounge. The tourists held up a photo of Michelle Yeoh on their phone and asked, “Excuse me. Is the woman seated in front of us Michelle Yeoh?” To their surprise, the woman they were referring to was actually Yang herself. Her production team politely informed them that she was not Michelle, despite the striking resemblance.
Yang couldn’t help but wonder if she truly resembled Michelle Yeoh. She recalled another incident that took place at home during dinner with her family. The television was broadcasting news about Michelle’s Academy Awards victory, and her father, like the American tourists, mistook Yang for the renowned actress. He even jokingly asked, “Since when did you get an Oscar?”
The actress found it flattering to be compared to Michelle Yeoh and pondered whether there was indeed a strong resemblance between them. She invited her fans to examine their pictures and decide for themselves if they were doppelgangers.
