2-12-2023 (SINGAPORE) In a peculiar incident that took place on the afternoon of November 29 at approximately 1pm, a person wearing a black tank top and a pink dress made an audacious attempt to force open the door of an MRT train. The incident, which was captured on video by a vigilant onlooker, has since gained attention after being shared on Facebook group 2017不吐不快. According to the footage and its accompanying caption, this incident occurred while the train was en route to Yio Chu Kang MRT station along the North-South line.
The video reveals the person’s persistent efforts to open the train door. Initially, they attempted to manipulate the left panel of the door without success. Undeterred, the individual then resorted to prying open the right panel. Eventually, their perseverance paid off as the door opened slightly. Throughout this ordeal, other passengers off-camera could be heard shouting at the person, urging them to cease their actions. However, it was only when a man approached and advised the individual to “Wait for the next stop” that they finally relented.
At the conclusion of the video, a still image depicts the aftermath of the incident. It shows the person lying on the ground of Ang Mo Kio MRT station while two station staff engage in conversation with three officers from the Public Transport Security Command (TransCom). The caption accompanying the photo confirms that the commuter came to rest at Ang Mo Kio MRT station.
Upon being contacted by Mothership for clarification, SMRT trains president, Lam Sheau Kai, acknowledged the incident and stated that their station staff were alerted to the situation on Wednesday around 1pm. Lam revealed that the station staff were made aware of a male commuter, dressed in a dress, deliberately attempting to force open the train door just as it was about to depart.
Upon entering the train to investigate the matter, the station staff encountered resistance from the uncooperative commuter, who even displayed aggressive behavior towards them. Despite their efforts to persuade the individual to exit the train so that other commuters could continue their journeys, the person refused to comply.
Lam emphasized that such actions not only jeopardize the safety of the person involved but also pose a threat to other passengers on board. SMRT takes a grave view of this kind of behavior and considers it a serious offense. Consequently, TransCom was promptly activated to address the situation.
