22-11-2023 (HANOI) Vietnam’s rice exports saw a surge in October, with The Philippines emerging as the largest importer followed by Indonesia, according to a report by VnExpress, citing the Vietnam Food Association. Notably, Cote d’Ivoire secured the third position by importing 62,000 tons of rice worth $37.5 million from Vietnam during the same period.
Ghana and Malaysia also significantly increased their imports of Vietnamese rice, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively. Ghana imported 46,470 tons, while Malaysia imported 40,728 tons, representing a 20-30 percent increase compared to September.
The month of November witnessed a remarkable upswing in the prices of Vietnamese export rice, reaching the highest levels seen in the past decade. Moreover, Vietnam’s rice export turnover attained a new peak in the first 10 months of 2023.
Data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs reveals that Vietnam exported over 7.1 million tons of rice, valued at $4 billion, during the aforementioned period. This signifies a notable increase of 35 percent in value and 17 percent in volume compared to the previous year.
