21-11-2023 (MACAU) Aaron Kwok, the renowned Hong Kong singer-actor, faced an unfortunate incident during the recent Macau Touring Car Cup – China Touring Car Championship as his race came to an abrupt halt following a collision with an opponent.
Participating as a special guest for team Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co, Kwok was competing in the two-race event during the Macau Grand Prix weekend. In the first race, he finished in 17th place, with the final race scheduled for Sunday (Nov 19).
According to reports from Macau media, the 58-year-old collided with Chan Chun Leung, the Norris Racing Honda driver, at the Lisboa corner when only four laps remained, resulting in the deployment of the safety car.
Fortunately, Kwok emerged from the crash unharmed, despite the intensity of the impact. Taking to Instagram, he shared that he chose racing as a sport to “relieve stress after work.”
“As an amateur driver, when you engage in practice, there is a wealth of knowledge to be gained in understanding the car’s performance and analyzing different tracks,” Kwok wrote. “In addition to strengthening one’s determination, it also serves as a form of physical and mental training.”
Kwok acknowledged the challenging nature of the Guia street circuit in Macau and expressed his dedication to giving his best during the two-day race. Although he did not explicitly mention the crash, he expressed his desire to “control the imperfections” and strive for improvement in the future.
Furthermore, Kwok highlighted his participation in motorsports as a means to contribute to charity. As the founder of the Aaron Kwok International Charity Foundation in 2000, he emphasized the importance of raising funds and giving back to society through his involvement in racing.
“Through ongoing donations, each race becomes more meaningful,” he concluded.
