11-11-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Malaysia’s second shipment of humanitarian aid for Palestinians departed for El-Arish International Airport in Egypt on Friday night. The aid was transported via a special chartered cargo flight as part of the ongoing mission of Ops Ihsan.
The cargo plane, carrying 20 tonnes of medical supplies and goods for babies, took off from the Cargo Terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at approximately 11 pm.
This shipment follows the first delivery made on November 3, which included 20 tonnes of goods. The combined efforts of Ops Ihsan have resulted in the collection of over 50 tonnes of goods, valued at more than RM7 million.
The remaining 10 tonnes of goods are expected to be delivered soon to complete the aid package.
Upon arrival in Egypt, the aid will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, which will act as a partner in facilitating its entry into Gaza through the Rafah border.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof expressed his appreciation to the people of Malaysia, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), airlines, and logistics personnel who have contributed to the success of this humanitarian aid mission. He witnessed the sending-off of the second shipment.
Furthermore, he stated that Malaysia stands ready to send additional rubber gloves to the medical teams in the Gaza Strip. The urgent need for rubber gloves was communicated to Malaysia, and confirmation of the required quantity is still awaited.
Ops Ihsan is an initiative launched by the Foreign Ministry in collaboration with over 50 NGOs, including Global Peace Mission Malaysia, Mercy Malaysia, BeVital, MyAqsa Defenders, Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM), Persatuan Wadah Pencerdasan Umat Malaysia (WADAH), Cinta Gaza Malaysia, and Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA).
