9-11-2023 (SINGAPORE) The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) confirmed on Wednesday that a woman, who gained notoriety for posting a video of herself engaging in a heated argument with the police at a hospital, has been deported to China. In addition, she has been banned from re-entering Singapore.
The woman in question, Han Feizi, was sentenced on October 25 to five weeks and five days in jail and fined $600. This verdict came after Han pleaded guilty to charges related to two separate incidents where she used abusive language against security officers and an employee at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). Furthermore, the 29-year-old Chinese national was found to have violated manpower laws by providing false information in her work permit application.
One of the incidents occurred at SGH on October 10 and garnered significant attention after Han posted an 11-minute video on the Chinese social media platform Douyin the same day. In the video, she was seen engaging in a verbal dispute with two investigation officers (IOs).
The IOs had arrived at SGH after a call for assistance from the hospital regarding a patient who was being verbally abusive. Earlier, Han had directed abusive language towards a patient service associate who had advised her to wear a mask.
According to the police, Han also used vulgar language in Mandarin against one of the IOs and refused to provide a statement.
On October 3, Han was involved in a separate incident at The Sail at Marina Bay, a condominium in Marina Boulevard. When a security supervisor offered to escort her to her unit after noticing her squatting in the lift lobby, Han became aggressive, shouting obscenities and pushing him repeatedly.
Han admitted that she was intoxicated during both incidents. In court on October 25, after her sentence was pronounced, she issued an apology for “causing inconvenience to everyone.” She had been in remand for 13 days before the court hearing.
Han had entered Singapore on at least four occasions since 2019. She was granted a work pass on August 12, stating in her application that she would work as a clerk. However, it was later discovered that she had been working as a hostess on the side. Her work pass was revoked following her conviction, as confirmed by the Ministry of Manpower, which also declared that she would be permanently barred from working in Singapore.
