29-10-2023 (WASHINGTON) On Saturday, U.S. fighter jets were urgently dispatched to intercept a civilian aircraft flying north of President Joe Biden’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware.
According to Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the United States Secret Service, the civilian aircraft breached restricted airspace shortly after 2 p.m. Thankfully, the aircraft was able to make a safe landing at a nearby airport.
Guglielmi explained, “As a precaution, assets were scrambled to intercept, and the civilian aircraft safely landed at a nearby airport. There were no impacts on the protectee’s movements as a result of this incident, and agents from the United States Secret Service are conducting an investigation in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration.”
President Biden, who was spending the weekend in Wilmington, was not affected by the incident. After the situation was resolved, he attended a church service on Saturday evening.
