28-10-2023 (SAN FRANCISCO) Elon Musk’s groundbreaking social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, introduced two new subscription plans on Friday. Among these options is the Premium+ tier, designed for users who are willing to pay for an ad-free and enhanced experience on the platform.
For a monthly fee of approximately US$16 (S$21.9), subscribers to the Premium+ plan gain access to all the tools and features that X offers, while bidding farewell to bothersome advertisements. The company made this announcement through a post on the platform, highlighting the benefits of this new subscription level.
Notably, the Premium+ tier is currently accessible exclusively to users accessing the platform through a web browser.
In addition to the Premium+ plan, X has introduced a basic tier, which comes at a more affordable rate of US$3 per month. However, it’s important to note that this basic tier does not provide an ad-free experience.
Furthermore, X has ambitious plans to expand its services by incorporating video and audio calling features, thereby transforming the platform into a comprehensive “everything app.”
Elon Musk, who acquired the social media platform in October 2022 for a staggering US$44 billion, has been exploring various avenues to maximize the platform’s monetization potential.
