The announcement was made by X’s Chief Technology Officer and owner, Elon Musk, who is determined to transform X into an “everything app.”
Musk, a billionaire entrepreneur and innovator, shared this update on the platform by posting an announcement instructing users on how to enable the newly launched features, stating it as an “Early version of video & audio calling on X.”

This latest functionality is just one of several notable changes and additions that X has undergone under the leadership of Elon Musk, who took ownership of the social media platform nearly a year ago. After rebranding Twitter as X, Musk revealed his ambitious vision to transform the platform into a super-app, intending to offer a diverse range of services, including messaging, social networking, and peer-to-peer payments.

One of these newly launched features, which has been anticipated since August, is video and audio calling. Musk has previously hinted that this feature would be distinctive in that it does not require users to provide a phone number.
