25-10-2023 (MOSCOW) In a recent incident, Russia deployed fighter jets to intercept two US bombers and a drone that had approached the country’s northern and southern borders on Tuesday (Oct 24), as reported by the Russian Defence Ministry.
According to the ministry’s statement, two US B-1B strategic bombers were detected nearing the Russian border over the Baltic Sea, while a Global Hawk drone approached the border over the Black Sea.
The Russian military swiftly responded by dispatching a single Su-37 fighter jet in each case. As a result, the US bombers and the drone altered their course away from the Russian border, effectively avoiding any further escalation, the ministry confirmed.
