24-10-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a resounding call for all Malaysians to stand united and express their unwavering condemnation of the Israeli government’s actions against Palestine. Anwar has urged the nation to rally together in solidarity with the Palestinian people during the “Malaysia Stands with Palestine Rally,” scheduled to take place at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday night, October 24.
Through his Facebook post, Anwar emphasized the rally’s objectives, stating, “We will demand a ceasefire, an end to the attacks, facilitation of humanitarian aid, an end to the brutality, injustice, and suffering that have been going on for so long. See you tonight!”
The event, jointly organized by more than 40 non-governmental organizations, including Malaysian Humanitarian Aid And Relief (Mahar) and the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (Mapim), was anticipated to draw an estimated 10,000 participants. The rally, scheduled to run from 6 pm to 11 pm, includes activities such as mass Maghrib prayers, solat hajat (prayers of need), and the recitation of Qunut Nazilah.
Participants have been encouraged to wear white attire and display the national flags of Palestine and Malaysia to signify Malaysia’s unwavering solidarity with Palestine.
Anwar has been actively voicing Malaysia’s concerns on the international stage, urging the global community to take action against the harsh treatment and double standards experienced by the Palestinian people. He conveyed these sentiments during his recent working visit to Saudi Arabia to attend the first ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit. Anwar reaffirmed these concerns in meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on Sunday and with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo on Monday, October 23.
