24-10-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A man resorted to disguising himself in a hijab, feminine footwear, and nail polish to gain illicit access to a women’s restroom at a supermarket in Johor on Sunday, allegedly with the intent of recording voyeuristic videos, local law enforcement reported.
A video of the incident quickly went viral, showing the suspect being restrained by a man inside the store while a woman confronts him, demanding the passcode to his phone. According to the individual who originally posted the video, the man had more than 40 recorded videos from inside the women’s restroom on his phone.
The video, which has garnered over 1.5 million views, also shows the man reluctantly complying with requests to wear the hijab he was found with and display his painted toenails to the camera.
The man, sitting on the floor and waiting for the police, expressed his embarrassment and said, “I don’t know why my brain is like this today. I’m so embarrassed.” He also claimed to be married and pleaded for his release.
Malaysian authorities confirmed on Monday that a 23-year-old man was detained by members of the public for “stalking behavior” inside a women’s restroom on Sunday at the Kip Mall in Masai, Pasir Gudang. The individual had no prior criminal record.
The man is now under suspicion of gross indecency and could face a two-year jail term, according to the police. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
