20-10-2023 (BANGKOK) A couple in Nonthaburi has been apprehended by the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) on charges of luring young women into engaging in sex shows and distributing videos to paying subscribers in online chat groups.
The ATPD conducted an investigation into dating applications and other suspicious social media platforms, uncovering evidence that the couple had uploaded videos featuring group sex involving themselves and other women. The accused individuals were identified as Kankawee Boonchalerm, 24, and his wife Rotsukhon Karnbun, 27, according to Pol Maj Gen Sarut Kwaengsopha, the commander of ATPD.
Pol Col Pattanapong Sripinphor, chief of ATPD Sub-division 2, stated that the couple enticed viewers by sharing 30-second teaser videos, encouraging them to pay a membership fee of 450 baht to access complete sex shows. Additionally, the couple offered the videos through their OnlyFans subscription channel for a fee of approximately 700 baht (US$17), as per Pol Col Pattanapong.
Upon searching the couple’s condominium unit in the Bang Bua Thong district of Nonthaburi, law enforcement confiscated over 50 videos. Some of the victims seen in the footage appeared to be under the influence of drugs and unable to control themselves.
Initial investigations by the police revealed that around ten women had been enticed into participating in these activities. However, only two victims have come forward to lodge complaints against the couple.
One of the victims, an 18-year-old woman, disclosed that she met Mr. Kankawee through a dating app. He convinced her to visit his room, where he claimed to live with his older sister. However, upon arriving at the room, she alleged that she was drugged and subsequently lost consciousness.
According to Pol Col Pattanapong, the complainant stated that she was unaware of the sexual abuse until the police presented her with the videos.
Another victim, aged 28, informed the police that Ms. Rotsukhon, the female accomplice, lured her into her room by expressing her fondness for intimate encounters with women. The victim reported that she was also subjected to abuse, with the sexual acts being recorded and disseminated on social media.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to inviting the women for drinks but denied any instances of abuse. They claimed that the videos were made with the consent of the women involved.
The police have filed initial charges against the couple, including human trafficking by coercing individuals into engaging in sexual activities, selling sex videos for personal gain, rape of victims who were incapable of resisting, dissemination of explicit content for commercial purposes, and violation of the Computer Crime Act and related offenses.
