15-10-2023 (BANGKOK) Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin is set to embark on an official visit to China starting Monday, October 16, with the aim of expanding cooperation between the two nations in various sectors. The focus will particularly be on trade, investment, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.
Coinciding with his visit is the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, scheduled for October 17 and 18. Prime Minister Srettha will attend the forum and deliver a statement at the High-Level Forum on “Green Silk Road for Harmony with Nature.” His speech will highlight the importance of cooperation in the green economy and sustainable development, aligning with Thailand’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The Thai Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Friday, providing details about the Prime Minister’s agenda during the visit.
Among the key events during the visit, Prime Minister Srettha will have a courtesy call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He will also hold bilateral meetings with Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, Zhao Leji. These meetings aim to strengthen diplomatic ties and discuss opportunities for collaboration in various areas.
During an investment promotion forum, the Thai Prime Minister will deliver a speech outlining Thailand’s key economic policies. The forum will be attended by representatives from the private sectors of both countries, creating a platform for fruitful discussions and potential partnerships.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Srettha will engage in discussions with Chinese business executives, exploring further avenues of collaboration in trade and investment between Thailand and China.
