27-9-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) In an unexpected and spirited celebration, two bodybuilders recently made waves in Kuala Lumpur’s popular culinary haven, Jalan Alor Street. Diners were treated to an unusual sight when these two champions, fresh from a bodybuilding competition, removed their shirts to mark their newfound culinary freedom.
The video, shared by 27-year-old Firdauz Ahmad Fuad, quickly gained attention on social media. Reactions ranged from amusement to disapproval, with some viewers finding it an inappropriate display in a restaurant.
Some comments expressed sentiments such as, “I wonder which dish they were going to try first,” and “If I were there and witnessed this scene, I wouldn’t have time to eat.” It’s evident that these shirtless bodybuilders captured the diners’ attention.
However, several onlookers recognized that this wasn’t the right setting for such a display, as one netizen reminded them, saying, “Bro, this is a restaurant, not a gym.”
In an interview with “mStar,” Firdauz explained that their shirtless celebration lasted just a few seconds. The primary reason was to commemorate their newfound freedom to indulge in food after two months of strict dieting. The second individual in the video was a trainee, and both had recently completed a day-long bodybuilding competition.
Firdauz said, “We prepared for this competition for two months and had been craving delicious food for a while. We decided to celebrate our freedom at Jalan Alor Street, renowned for its culinary delights. Enjoying this food would undoubtedly boost our spirits and muscular health.”
The shirtless episode was brief, lasting around four to five seconds before they dressed. Firdauz believes that only a few people noticed their actions, and the reactions from those who did notice were largely positive.
Firdauz later shared his video on social media, which was then widely circulated, prompting criticism for being distasteful and disrespectful to restaurant guests.
Firdauz expressed that he isn’t concerned about online comments as such shirtless celebrations are quite common in the bodybuilding community. He noted, “We simply allowed ourselves a brief moment of liberation. Diners on-site didn’t raise any objections, and the worst anyone said was that they felt like vomiting when they saw us shirtless.”
In a light-hearted manner, Firdauz commented, “I’m not petty; for those involved in fitness, taking off one’s shirt is routine. Without a robust physique, we wouldn’t dare to show ourselves.”
The two champions made waves at a local bodybuilding competition on Sunday, each claiming victory in their respective categories. These triumphs marked the rewarding outcome of two months of dedicated preparation.
Firdauz is now committed to preparing for an international ranking competition scheduled for November.
